Scholar, athlete, cowboy, logger
naturalist, musician, inventor, race car driver, stunt pilot, animal
psychologist... Grandpappy has done it all—though modesty
sometimes compels him to add that he wasn't always successful. Nonetheless,
here are five fabulous adventures of this indirect descendant of
Baron Von Munchausen, narrated by Grandpappy himself and faithfully
recorded by his dutiful if somewhat skeptical biographer, John Dashney.
The Flying Snake: In which Grandpappy trains a
squadron of flying snakes and thus precipitates a miniature war
in the skies above the Windy River.
The Popapple Caper: In which Grandpappy invents
the world's first apple popper and single-handedly wipes out the
Greater Snodgrass County Fair as a result.
Great Galloping Catfish!: In which Grandpappy,
with the aid of the world's first racing hippopotamus, conducts
the only known catfish roundup and trail drive in the history of
the American West.
The Skwookus & Humidaba: In which Grandpappy makes
use of his knowledge of Greek myth, basic chemistry and baseball
psychology to overcome two incredible monsters.
Old Fluffy: Ever heard of a tracker who could
follow a cold sound? Well, Grandpappy's fabulous hunting rabbit
could do just that! Whether it's an injured animal or neighbors
in distress, Grandpappy and Old Fluffy are ready to ride to the
rescue. |
